Central Park has been classified as a national historical landmark since 1962. The park is a similar size to London’s Hyde Park and it has been used as an inspiration for young architects to create similar parks around the world. In Central Park, Kevin finally meets with the woman referred to as “Pigeon Lady” that the story has been building up as a potential villain. To both Kevin’s surprise as well as the viewer’s, the lady isn’t a villain at all. A bond forms between the two and we find out who the lady really is. In the sequel, he says almost the same line when Kevin goes into Central Park, changing only one letter and saying "Kids are a-scared of the park." The scene where the Frenchman converses with Kevin in French on board the plane is translated into Spanish on the DVD's French audio setting. A real version of the Talkboy, the tape recorder Kevin plays with in the movie, was created by Tiger Electronics shortly after the film's release, along with its pink-and-purple counterpart, the Talkgirl. In Home Alone, Kevin watches a movie called Angels with Filthy Souls. In this sequel, he watches that film's sequel, Angels with Even Filthier Souls.
The Radio City Music hall is a beautiful art deco building, built in the early 1930s. You get to go backstage and see the whole venue for a lot cheaper than the cost of a concert ticket. They are giant swanky powder rooms that will make you feel like an old Hollywood star. During the 2017 reno, the new owners have given the Empire Diner a modern feel while also maintaining its art deco roots.

The hotel provides Kevin a ride through New York in a limousine, as well as his very own cheese pizza, Coca-Cola to drink and the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas before asking if there are any good toy stores in this city. Back at the hotel, Hector looks through the hotel records and finds that Peter's credit card has been reported stolen, much to his delight. Kevin arrives at Duncan's Toy Chest as Marv and Harry perform reconnaissance there. Duncan, who tells him the proceeds from the store's Christmas sales will go to a local children's hospital. After Kevin donates some money, Mr. Duncan suggests that he take a pair of ceramic turtledoves from the store's Christmas tree as both a gift and a token of appreciation. He then instructs him to keep one and give the other to someone else, as a symbol of friendship and Kevin becomes fascinated about the turtledoves. Kevin leaves the store and runs into Harry and Marv while looking at his map for directions, who then chase him after the bandits spot Kevin and decide to get their revenge. During the chase, Kevin manages to lose the bandits by making them slip on necklace beads.

When Kevin meets Marv and Harry outside the toy store, he drops his map and magnifying glass on the pavement. Near the end of the movie when all the kids are in the penthouse room, Buzz yells to try to quiet everyone down. He then blows on his fingers to whistle to get everyone's attention but only a faint raspberry blowing sound is made. The hotel operator with whom Kevin makes a reservation while pretending to be his father is played by Chris Columbus' wife, Monica Devereux. She previously appeared in the first film as a flight attendant on the Chicago-Paris flight.

As Kevin wishes for his mother to return, Kate's intuition proves correct, as she then observes Kevin in front of the Rockefeller Center's Christmas tree. The two embrace and apologize to each other before heading back to the Plaza as Kate explains that, like Kevin, the family didn't like the palm trees in Florida either. Using his father's address book, Kevin tracks down the home of his Uncle Rob and Aunt Georgette, only to find it vacant and undergoing renovations, wherein he realizes Rob and Georgette are still abroad in Paris. The staff offers the family a complimentary suite as a token of apology while Kate decides to go out and look for Kevin, despite the protests of Peter and Mr. Hector, the latter of whom Kate slaps for allowing Kevin to escape. He advises her, "Do bundle up. It's awfully cold outside.", which she takes seriously.

In this brief scene, we see Kevin leaving from Quong Yuen Shing with firecrackers—which are sure to go off before the film’s conclusion. You’ll feel like you’re in a movie yourself when skating at this famous rink. It’s at this Home Alone 2 film location where Marv is trying to to skate, while Harry is reading the newspaper.

Kevin watches and strategically plays scenes from "Angels With Even Filthier Souls" at the Plaza. When Kevin goes to Duncan's for the first time, he walks by a man lifting his daughter to look at a toy display. Though he's Macaulay's brother in real life, he played Kevin's cousin, Fuller, in the films. It was created specifically as a prop for the film by Tiger Electronics, but according to Vanity Fair, the company was allowed to sell a real version once it came out. After fleeing the Plaza, Kevin seeks solace in Central Park and befriends the Pigeon Lady.
Kevin rigs the townhouse with booby traps, catches Harry and Marv in the process of robbing the store, and breaks its front window to set off the burglar alarm. After taking their picture, he lures them to the townhouse where they repeatedly injure themselves in the traps. Kevin evades them, calls the police from a pay phone to alert them to the pair's presence, and flees toward Central Park. Harry and Marv catch him after he slips on ice and prepare to kill him, but the pigeon lady throws a bucket of birdseed onto them, attracting a massive flock of pigeons and incapacitating the pair until the police arrive to arrest them. Kevin slips away, leaving photographic and tape-recorded evidence against Harry and Marv, and Mr. Duncan recovers the donation money and finds a note from Kevin explaining why he broke the window.
When the camera switches back to the counter, the only things on there are the map and Swiss army knife. When Kevin requested to make a donation to the toy store, the money envelope was back in his hand. In-between, however, there is a close-up of Mr. Duncan handling the money to put in the cash register. It is impossible for Kevin to take back the envelope of money off the counter. When Kevin goes to the front desk to check in, the desk clerk takes Peter's credit card. By regular standards, the clerk should have asked for some form of I.D., or in this case, given the fact Kevin is a minor, she should've called the police instead.

In the scene where Marv and Harry are hastily climbing down the rope to catch Kevin, and Kevin then sets it on fire to buy him some time, prior to when they let go in the long shot, the rope is clearly not attached to the building. At the toy store when Kevin is speaking with Mr. Duncan at the cash register, Duncan asks Kevin about all the money in his envelope. As Kevin is taking money out of the envelope to pay for his things he later uses to lure Marv and Harry, he places the envelope on the counter.
